Lavery Modise
Chairperson: GPSSBC

Lavery Modise is the Deputy Chairperson of the firm (Routledge Modise Inc.) and also heads the firm’s employment law practice. He is one of the top labour lawyers in the country and is featured in the Black Book as one of the most prominent black business professionals in the country.

At present he is the chairperson of the General Public Service Sector Bargaining Council. He also serves as a board member of Gauteng Liquor Board. Mr Modise has also acted as a judge of the Labour Court.

He is an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He has 19 years’ experience as a Labour Law Practitioner and a Litigation attorney. Lavery Modise was a part time commissioner of the CCMA, and previously served as a commissioner of the PSCBC.
Sharlaine Oodit
Secretary to Council: GPSSBC

Sharlaine Oodit was born January 01, 1976, Durban. Ms Oodit is currently pursuing a Masters in Labour Law at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Her expertise is in several areas such as:

Finance and Budgeting
Negotiations and Building Strategic Alliances
Dispute Resolution/Prevention
Labour Relations
Leadership and Mentoring
Sharlaine was appointed as the Head of Department – Negotiations Support and served as a skilled Manager gaining exposure in managerial issues such as policy-making, human resources management, and organizational restructuring and Labour relations within the GPSSBC.

She has worked extensively as a chairperson and facilitator of chambers presented National Workshops and Training in the Public Service. She has also planned and executed Labour Relations conferences nationally and internationally.

In her eighth year with the GPSSBC, she was appointed SOC and her success resonates with the boldness of a true champion for women.
